Carp Fishing Rods and Line

Now that you have your rod, it is time to pick your line! This will have a lot of dependency on what sort of carp fishing you are doing. Basically, it is divided into two groups. You will be either after the 15 pound and less are the ones that are over 15 pounds. If you are going for smaller, choose a test of at least a 1lb. Over 15 pounds use anywhere from a 2-3 lb test line.

You will immediately notice that all sorts of new carp fishing rods and lines have been developed for carp fishing and the braided lines are very popular. You don’t necessarily need it though. The importance is to be able to catch your fish, not lose tackle and bait and not cause any injury to the fish.

Carp Fishing Rods & The Perfect Hooks

When it comes to hooks, it’s all about length. Of course, like everything what you need depends on where you fish. The best way to go about finding the right hook for you is to ask your locals. You can of course try using one braided type, collecting a few along the way and decide by trial and error.

As your experience gets better you will no doubt change the hooks you use to fish carp with. However, that being said, it is well worth investing in a specifically designed carp hook in sizes that range from a number 12 to a 4. You must insist on barbless fishing hooks if your local authority requires it.
