The Fishing Reel and Rod Must be Good Together

It is one thing to find a great rod and a great reel but it is something altogether different to fit the two of them together.  Fishing reel and rod are like a good couple who will withstand the test of time together.  They should fit together and be compatible.

It is good to buy them in a set if at all possible and don’t go for the cheapest on the lot.  Chances are you will pay for this when your first catch breaks the pole and gets away with half of it.  When you choose the fishing reel you will need to consider what sort of fish you are fishing for because they will cause different action in the water.

Fishing Reel and Rod Choices For Regular Fishing

If you are fishing in a local lake or pond chances are just about any rod and reel will do.  You may not know what lurks in the water or what fish are available for the catching.  All fish react different on the line and as you get more accustomed to catching them you will become adept at seeing the difference in lures, lines, bait and reel action.  Reels do not normally weight more than a few ounces.  If you like long day or night trips fishing than obviously the reel should be light and the rod should be comfortable to hold onto for long periods of time.
