If you are interested in fishing than you are probably looking for tips to buying fishing rods and reels.  You can pick up a decent rod just about anywhere, but you should at least be aware of what sort of fishing you are interested in.

Each type of fishing takes a little bit different equipment but essentially, you need to consider certain factors.  The point of fishing is to enjoy the sport and the pleasure of being outdoors and having the wrong equipment will not make for an enjoyable day on the lake.  The first consideration is of course the rod and reel, which are the first tools you need to become a true angler.

Fishing rods are determined good or bad partly in fact of how well made the grip is and the resistance of the fishing rod.  You want to get a rod that has an excellent grip that will allow you to hang on to it even when your hands get all wet and slippery.  Look for a rod that has a comfortable grip and one that wraps around the rod completely.  Hold it in your hand and make sure that the length is appropriate for you to handle and make sure you choose one that is strong enough for the fish you will be searching for.
